1 | 1930. Leibe Lakunishok and Chaim Lakunishok are repairing the roof of the Latvian Earl’s house in a village near Zeimelis. The Earl had 280 Ga. Of land in his estate. |
2 | 1932. There was a flood. There is a wooden bridge between Vashkai and Zeimelis. The river’s name is Bershtelis. In the distance behind the bridge there is a Latvian church.There is a Beit-Knesset in the distance, but you cannot see it. On the right there is a peasant’s house. |
3 | 1932. There is a wooden building, which is a small Jewish school in Zeimelis. The construction of the building is almost over. Leibe Lakunishok (on the lower right), and Tabak (higher) are building the roof. He was a locksmith and left for Africa later. |
4 | 1932. (I have a copy. The original is not very good). This is Jonishkis Street. At that time they installed electricity in Zeimelis, and electric lighting. Leibe Lakunishok is on the pole. There are houses on the right side. Lithuanians lived in the nearest one. Leizer Mann and Zorochovich lived in the next houses. Yakushok lived in the left side. Far behind two-story house there is a bank. Chayesh’s house was on this street. |
5 | 1932. This is Linkuva Street. Yoshka Lakunishok is working on the electric lighting. The nearest two-story building was recently built. Gel is near the pole. On the first floor of the first right house lived a Lithuanian doctor. I do not know who lived on the second one. There was a store on the first floor in the next house. Hatmaker Zagorski lived in the third house. There was a road between these houses. Nison Zagorski owned a bakery on the corner. In the distance you can see Bauska Street and the house of Leizer Chayesh on the right side. There was another bakery on the corner. |
6 | 1932. Wiring for electrical lighting. This the first house from the previous picture. There was a road. There was a shed near this house. They set the generator there. Below there was a room with batteries for the radio. The shed was between a small house and the next one. |

was the place where our party group “Ha Shomer Ha Tsair” had its meetings.

We lived near this place. There was a bus stop. The owner of the bus was Boyarski. ARBATINE "Riga" means cafe "Riga". Taruts brothers are building the second floor. The house is on Bazaar square. To understand what house it is, I show my pictures to Israel and point to the two-story building on the left. This house was built for the baron with red brick. This is the construction of the third house. The house near it is a Yankelevich's manufacture store. |
